Serenity and Somber Beauty: Mossi SS27 at PFW

On the seventh day of Paris Fashion Week (PFW), Founder and Creative Director Mossi Traoré unveiled the SS27 — Spring/Summer 2027 — collection of his eponymous brand, one born from the Père-Lachaise cemetery, a place steeped in history, memory and life.
As a place filled with significant meaning to Traoré and one where his wanderings along the pathways birthed inspiration — from the details on the tombs and burial sites, the ornamentation, materials, shapes, to the changes in appearance as marked by the passage of time, the cemetery was the ideal backdrop to stage his latest runway event. Filled with a color palette inspired by the grayish tones of the stone tombs, the green shades of vegetation naturally found clinging to surfaces, and the animals inhabiting the grounds, a serene and beautifully somber collection unfolded.

The collection opened with a look of sheer softness in a monochrome black color palette. What followed on the runway were looks that embodied moments of tailoring with organic shapes creating hard and soft moments, often clinging in nature.
Also of note are the “moss-like” appliques which brought touches of weathering and time as well as faded prints of once grand monuments. Silhouettes ranged from clean-modern lines, couture elements, to more shrouded and enveloping styles which dramatically closed out the show.

Overall, the Mossi SS27 collection effortlessly blended inspiration from life and death, the old with the new, along with modern styling and couture moments.
