Bring on the Tulips: Monse SS27 at NYFW

Amidst a sun-filled, glass-domed setting at the Skylight at the Refinery in Brooklyn, NY, a parade of tulip-inspired looks walked the Monse SS27 — Spring/Summer 2027 — runway of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) on September 11, 2026.
Synonymous with Spring, the tulip evokes the gradual warmth of temperatures and the emergence of delicate, pastel colors and the familiar shade of green found in its broad leaves with tapered ends.
Setting a clear and singular tone for the SS27 collection, co-founders and creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia opened the show with an abstract, “thread/fringe” jacket with leather collar and coordinating mini skirt. Pastel pink accents and shades of green, along with a a tulip accessory in hand signaled what was to emerge.
From oversized and abstract fringed tulips to more life-size appliqués and accessories, dresses filled with movement and flow emerged next onto the runway. Delicate fringe in earthy tones, along with a burst of purple, sky blue and forest green were also in the the color palette. Stripes added touches of geometry and contrast while abstract tulip petals adorned deconstructed pieces, and “lace” petal fabrics provided sexy peek-a-boo moments in other looks.
The collection finale, comprised of evening wear looks, celebrated the beauty of feathers in all forms and sheen because how could you have Spring without birds?
While the inspiration was clearly evident in this latest collection, the balance from literal to abstract and everything in between associated with this seasonal flower, was just the right amount of “threading” sewn throughout this exquisite collection.
