Discover the Issey Miyake SS26 — Spring/Summer 2026 — “Being Garments, Being Sentient” collection unveiled on the runways of the Centre Pompidou at Paris Fashion Week, October 3, 2025.
According to the collection notes, SS26 is a series of sartorial explorations founded upon the question: “What if garments are conscious?” By going beyond the conventions and preconceptions about garments, the collection draws inspiration from the unexpected and the absent, to build a new portrayal of clothing.
The collection is divided into mini capsules that include:
- Generic Wear – an exploration of the idea of garments that grow and shed their skin
- Arms – highlights the contrast with a wearer’s own limbs
- Peu Form3 – non conventional shapes
- A Shopper’s Body – speaks to the state of excessive consumption of consumerism
- Palindrome – challenges the conventional notion of “interior” and “exterior” in clothing
- Concealed – a simple pattern that treats the body and unfilled space around it as a single canvas
- Urban Jungle – the essence of palm species and the concept of wearing plants
- Adventitious – inspired by the idea of bringing a sense of “life” into garments that are usually constructed from patterns
Issey Miyake collections continuously impress this editor on the thoughtful approach to design and for pushing the boundaries in creativity. The Concealed and Urban Jungle capsule collections particularly stand out for their organic gracefulness and striking silhouettes, respectively, while the Adventitious looks evoke playfulness while conveying modern artistry.

This season also showcases the collaboration between Camper and Issey Miyake in the presentation of Karst Finch footwear, inspired by rocky, geographical formations.
